In China, its jade that has been a symbol of status, spirituality, purity and health for over 9,000 years. Jade has been been estimated to have been mined and worked in China since the Stone Age. In prehistoric sites jade artifacts have been fashioned into jewelry, tools and weapons.
Jade later became revered with special significance and by 3000BC it became known as the Royal Gem. The most wealthy society were buried in full jade suits assembled with gold, silver, copper and silk.
